Cassia Resettlement Team
2016 - 2018
Many of the residents in the rental flats of Dakota Crescent were elderly and/or immobile when they had to relocate to Cassia Crescent in 2016. Though it was nearby, the move was a huge transition to an unfamiliar, modern and smaller environment. After working with the community for 1.5years, Dakota Adventures pivoted into a resettlement team that helped the elderly through this difficult transition.
We aim to plug the residents, who have become isolated and falling through the cracks, back into the system by linking them up with social organisations and help in the neighbourhood. Post move, we’ve conducted more than 500 house visits through referrals, door knocking and eventually befriending the community.
To further help the residents adjust to the new environment, the Cassia Resettlement Team brought the community together through activities and events. #CassiaPotluckParty, Kopi and Gardening Sessions were organised to motivate residents reconnect with old friends and utilize common spaces. These activities aim to tackle issues of loneliness and isolation.
As of 2018, Cassia Resettlement Team has separated from Dakota Adventures and continues as an independent entity.
